Raka is mainly distinguished by its wine production, agriculture, apiculture and pottery, with the wine cellar Cvičkov hram standing proudly at the entrance to the town. There, the locals will serve you with the Dolenjska “nonconformist” – cviček – in the company of bacon and an autochthonous variety of onion – raška č’bula.
There are quite a few cultural points of interests that are worth visiting: the Raka Castle, the Humek farmhouse and the parish church of St. Lawrence.
Members of the local tourist association will gladly organize a guided tour of the town and other interesting sights just for you. Among other things, you can try the pottery spindle at the Kržan farm, which boasts a long-standing tradition of making ceramic products.
