Cycling to Grmada Hill

This short, but steeper, cycling route will provide you with beautiful views, neatly managed vineyards and the chance to taste local culinary dishes and wines. Start in Krško with a climb to Sremič. Along the road you will notice “Tri lučke” restaurant to the left. This restaurant is well known for its fish dishes and wine selections. Inside the restaurant you will find the oldest and largest wine press in Europe. The route continues to the church of Saint Mohor with wide-angle views of Rajhenburg castle, Sava river to the West, Gora and Dunaj villages to the South and the town of Senovo with Bohor hill to the North. Continue to Grmada hill representing the popular hiking and cycling destination. From the top you can see the whole Pannonian basin: city of Krško, town of Leskovec pri Krškem, villages and forest-laden hills of Libna, Gorjanci, Sljeme (over the border with Croatia), Kum, Veliko Kozje, Lisca, Bohor and even Kamnik-Savinja Alps in the background. Refreshments are available at the Grmada cottage hosted by Videm Mountain climbing club. Continue downhill through Bučerca and Kremen until you reach the starting point.
