The tourism provider Gostilna and Hotel Kunst has obtained the environmental/sustainability label GOOD TRAVEL SEAL, thereby contributing to the green and sustainable tourism story of the Krško destination.
The management and staff of Gostilna and Hotel Kunst decided some time ago to further upgrade their existing GREEN POLICY, formally integrate it into their business operations, and verify their sustainability-oriented practices through internationally recognized standards. This was achieved by undergoing the certification process for the GOOD TRAVEL SEAL sustainability certificate for hospitality establishments and accommodations, with the long-term goal of subsequently obtaining the Slovenia Green certificate.
Good Travel Seal is a certification and sustainability management program designed for tourism businesses of all types, with a particular focus on usability and accessibility for small and medium-sized enterprises. Companies that meet the criteria are awarded a Platinum or Diamond Seal.
Within the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism, the label is suitable for accommodation providers, hospitality businesses, tourist attractions, congress centers, and mountain resorts.
The Good Travel Seal places strong emphasis on informing and actively involving visitors in sustainable and environmentally friendly measures implemented by certified establishments. It ensures that staff are well informed and appropriately trained in environmental and sustainability practices, while continuously seeking new sustainable ways of operating and using technology. The aim is to reduce resource consumption and waste generation, thereby lowering environmental impact and operational costs.
As guests are becoming increasingly environmentally aware, positive environmental credentials are playing a growing role in their choice of accommodation or venue for leisure or business purposes. The Good Travel Seal symbolizes a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development, making it highly attractive to potential guests. For the establishment, obtaining the Good Travel Seal also represents an additional promotional advantage, as it clearly communicates compliance with strict environmental criteria and a systematic, comprehensive approach to continuously improving sustainable business practices.
The criteria for restaurants and accommodation providers under which the establishment was assessed and certified cover 10 key areas: (1) Food and Beverage, (2) Care for People, (3) Employment, (4) Climate Action, (5) Waste Reduction, (6) Water Management, (7) Pollution Reduction, (8) Nature, (9) Culture Management and (10) InformationWithin the Management area.
The establishment demonstrated, among other things, active two-way cooperation with the local community. Sustainability is at the heart of the daily operations of Hotel and Restaurant Kunst. From efficient energy and water use, responsible waste management and environmentally friendly cleaning practices, to raising awareness among both staff and guests, sustainability guides every step. A key part of this green story is strong cooperation with the local community. By building long-term partnerships with local suppliers, the hotel and restaurant highlight seasonal, high-quality local ingredients and help preserve the region’s gastronomic heritage, including the Krškopolje pig and free-range capon.
We believe that, together with environmentally conscious tourism providers and through initiatives and incentives supporting sustainable environmental and social development, we can successfully co-create sustainable tourism and contribute to the long-term development of the Krško destination.
