Green Tips for Visitors
The destination Krško is following the path of sustainable development, as evidenced by the awarded Slovenia Green Destination Gold label. Follow the tips provided below and help us to build and keep our destination a green one.
By being aware that your actions affect the environment, local communities and the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage. By following the Green Tips, you contribute towards mitigating the negative effect of tourism and consolidating the SLOVENIA GREEN brand image.
Preserve nature and the region
- Travel in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. Instead of taking a car, travel by train or bus.
- Explore the diverse landscape by bike or on foot.
- Always take the marked cycling and walking trails – these will take you to your destination.
- Instead of walking on grass or picking flowers, admire the wild blossoming meadows, which provide food to native Slovenian bees.
Protect the environment and the climate
- Support separate waste collection and take waste to designated collection points.
- Our water is clean and portable. You can fill your bottle with pure drinking water virtually at every step.
- Help us to conserve our abundant water resources. Take a short shower instead of a bath and make sure you turn off the water while you brush your teeth.
- Help us save energy by reusing towels and linen.
- Allow the signals of the environment and nature to come to light. Whenever possible, unplug all electronic and other devices.
Respect the culture and traditions
- Buy local and support local producers.
- Taste local dishes. Order traditional dishes with locally produced ingredients and recipes. Enjoy an authentic culinary experience based on local specialties. Don’t forget to try pork delicacies from the indigenous Krškopolje pig, freshwater fish, clotted cream dishes, the ‘puhla’ crackling pie, the Rajhenburg cake, the unique Cviček wine, Blue Franconian and sparkling wines.
- Visit the Krško City Museum, Rajhenburg Castle, and help us to preserve our culture and arts.
- Visit traditional events, such as Taste Posavje, a festival of wine and cuisine, the summer raspberry festival and the Posavje Hiking Festival.
Keep Krško green
- Share your positive experiences with friends and help us to spread a green mindset.
- Share your experiences on social media and make sure you use #visitkrsko.
- Embrace green habits, and don’t forget to nurture them when you return home.
