MANSIONS AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

To learn about cultural heritage, visit the Rajhenburg Castle, perched in an idyllic spot and offering a breathtaking panorama. The Castle was built in the 12th century and is one of the most important built monuments of Slovenian medieval culture. The Castle now exhibits stories of noblemen, also divulging the mysterious life of the Trappist monks who managed it for nearly 60 years. Trappist monks would make liqueurs, cheese, chocolate, sparkling wine and much more at that time. Next to the Castle is the Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes, also called the Slovenian Lourdes, which is today one of the largest in Slovenia and at the same time the largest in the Posavje region. Also worth seeing is the Raka – Arch Castle, which is considered to be one of the oldest medieval castles in Slovenia and boasts authentic furniture in more than 40 rooms.
